Is FluxJet Legit? Deep Dive Q&A with Aggressively Average Anglers
Share
Unless you've been living under a rock, you’ve heard the rumors about the FluxJet. But seeing it online is one thing—seeing it in person is another.
We invited Paul and Jeff from Aggressively Average Anglers down to FluxJet HQ in California to ask the hard questions. They didn't hold back. From "What happens when I hit a rock?" to "Is it really $3,499?", we covered everything in this deep-dive interview.
The Elephant in the Room: The "Dyson Fan" Motor
The first thing everyone notices is the motor. It doesn't look like a trolling motor. It looks like a jet turbine.
Jason Woods (FluxJet Founder): "We call it a jet drive, but it actually has more in common with a jet turbine in an airplane than a boat. There are no drive shafts, no transmission systems. The motor is encased in the ring and directly drives the impeller."
Why this matters: No gears means fewer moving parts to break. The entire drive unit drops out with just four bolts. We designed it to be serviceable with basic hand tools—easier than assembling IKEA furniture.
Speed & Battery Reality Check
One of the biggest questions Paul and Jeff asked was about battery compatibility. Do you need a proprietary $1,000 battery?
The Answer: No. We built the FluxJet to be open-source.
- Voltage Range: Runs on anything from 12V to 60V.
- The Box: Fits a massive Group 31 battery (or two mini 12Vs).
- Run Time: In testing, running a 36V 50Ah battery for 6 hours of fishing used only 17% capacity.

PRE-ORDER NOW →The "Weedless" Promise
Jet skis are notorious for sucking up weeds. Paul asked the obvious question: "How do you handle grass?"
The FluxJet uses a patented intake system designed to create a vacuum behind the grate. Unlike a jet ski that scoops water (and weeds), our system manages the flow to prevent debris from hitting the impeller. And if you do get something stuck? Just hit Instant Reverse to blow it out.
Saltwater, Warranty, and Durability
Paul: "If it isn't rated for salt, it isn't rated at all."
We agree. The FluxJet comes standard with ceramic bearings and fully sealed components. It was born in the ocean. As for the warranty, our philosophy is simple: If you break it, tell us how. We want the data so we can improve the part. We offer a 2-year warranty on the hull without charging you an extra $900 for a "lifetime" sticker.
What's Included for $3,499?
Jeff pointed out that usually, you buy a kayak, then you buy a motor, then you buy steering, then you buy lights. With FluxJet, the $3,499 price tag includes:
- The Hull (11ft, 88lbs)
- The FluxJet Motor
- Integrated Foot Steering (Pre-plumbed)
- Full Navigation & Cockpit Lights
- Battery Box & Wiring
You just add the battery and a PFD, and you are fishing.
