Protect Your Hull: The BerleyPro Bumper Bro for FluxJet

Built From Customer Feedback
Most of what gets added to the FluxJet accessory line doesn't start in a product meeting. It starts in an email, a comment, a DM, or a conversation at an on-water demo.
FluxJet owners launch their kayaks in some of the toughest water in the country. The 4-inch draft of the FluxJet gets you into shallow water that propeller-driven kayaks can't reach—and that same shallow water has bottom contact that most kayak hulls weren't designed for. An owner says: "I love the kayak, but my launch is rocky and I'd like something on the bow to take the hits."
The feedback pattern was consistent: anglers wanted a sacrificial part on the bow that would take the abuse instead of the kayak hull itself. It needed to be replaceable, require zero drilling, and add virtually no weight to the 122 lb total package.
We reached out to the team at BerleyPro to build exactly that. The BerleyPro Bumper Bro hits every requirement on that list. It is custom-fit for the FluxJet hull and is available now for $54.99, shipping Q2 2026.

What is the Bumper Bro?
The Bumper Bro is a thermoformed ABS plastic keel guard that adheres to the bow of your FluxJet kayak. It takes the impact when your bow hits a rock, an oyster shell, a concrete ramp, or a wood plank during launch and landing—instead of the kayak hull taking it.
- Custom-fit to the FluxJet bow: Not a universal-fit part bent to work. It is contoured to the FluxJet hull geometry, so the bond surface is the full keel curve, not a flat patch.
- Tool-free installation: Adheres with marine adhesive (Marine Goop, 3M VHB tape, or similar). No drilling into the hull. No screws. No fasteners that can back out or corrode.
- Sacrificial by design: ABS plastic takes the abuse and wears down over time. When it's worn, you replace the Bumper Bro—not the kayak.

Where the Bumper Bro Earns Its Keep
If your fishing day involves any of the following, the Bumper Bro pays for itself within a season:
- Boat ramps: Concrete edges chew on plastic hulls. The Bumper Bro takes the bite.
- Oyster beds and shell shallows: Carolinas, Gulf Coast, Lower Laguna—anywhere oysters are part of the launch geometry, bow protection isn't optional.
- Rocky river ramps: Western rivers, granite-bedded creeks, mountain reservoirs. Beaching into stones is part of the day.
- Truck-bed loading: Sliding the bow on or off a tailgate without protection adds scratches over time. The Bumper Bro sees those impacts too.
How to Install It
Total install time is about 20 minutes including the surface prep.
1. Clean the bow surface: Isopropyl alcohol on a clean cloth. Let it dry.
2. Dry-fit the Bumper Bro: Make sure the part sits flush along the keel.
3. Apply adhesive: Marine Goop or another non-degrading adhesive along the bond surface. 3M VHB tape works for the body, but we recommend running a bead of adhesive around the edges so sand and debris can't work their way under.
4. Press and hold: Apply firm pressure along the full length. Optional heat gun warms the ABS for a tighter conform.
5. Let it cure: Adhesive cure time per the manufacturer's instructions. Then you're done.
