Is a FluxJet the right kayak for you?
An honest, plain-English guide for anglers comparing motorized kayaks. What it does well, who it's not for, what it really costs, and how ordering works.
Start here: is it a good match?
A FluxJet is an electric jet-powered fishing kayak. The jet drive is built into the hull, so nothing hangs below the boat. That makes it great for some anglers and the wrong choice for others.
A great fit if you...
- Fish shallow, weedy or rocky water where a prop gets in trouble. It runs in as little as 4 inches of water.
- Want to launch and go. The drive is already built in: drop in a battery and you're running.
- Like to stand and sight-fish. 35 inches wide with a 400 lb capacity.
- Want quiet electric power instead of gas.
- Can plan around a kayak that's built to order for you.
Probably not the right fit if you...
- Need a motorized kayak under about $1,500. FluxJet is $3,499 plus a battery.
- Need it on the water this fall. New orders are scheduled for the February 2027 production run.
- Want something one person can lift overhead easily. The bare hull is 88 lb, so most owners use a cart, a trailer or a second set of hands.

The testers at Aggressively Average Anglers ran a FluxJet through real conditions. Their words: "It's about as throw-and-go as it gets. You don't need anything else."
Built for skinny water and serious fishing
The highlights anglers ask about most, straight from the deposit page.
Flush to the Hull
Nothing from the propulsion system hangs below the hull. Run water as shallow as 4 inches that stops prop and pedal kayaks cold.
Engineered Like a Skimmer
The intake took over a year to develop and works like a skimmer, shedding vegetation as water flows in. No intake is clog-proof, so slow down in the thick stuff and use reverse to help clear anything that reaches it.
Built to Be Serviced
The drive drops out with four bolts and basic hand tools. No sealed black box you cannot open, understand, or fix.
Power Your Way
Drop in any 12V to 60V marine battery (36V recommended) in the included Group 31 battery box, about 14 by 6.8 by 9.8 inches inside. Battery and charger are not included. Magnetic kill switch, foot steering and throttle are built in.
Jet vs. prop motor vs. pedal drive
Three ways to move a fishing kayak without paddling. Here's how they compare where it matters most.
| FluxJet jet drive | Bolt-on prop motor | Pedal drive | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shallow water | Runs in 4 inches | Risk of prop strikes | Pull the drive |
| Below the hull | Nothing. Fully flush. | Prop hangs below | Fins drag or kick up |
| Heavy weeds | Reverse helps clear the intake | Stop and clear by hand | Fins foul |
| At the launch | Drop in a battery and go | Mount motor, wire battery | Insert drive unit |

Questions we hear most
What battery should I buy?
FluxJet runs on 12V to 60V. We recommend 36V, and 60V is the absolute maximum. The battery needs to fit the included Group 31 battery box. Not sure which to get? Call us and we'll walk you through it. Our battery guide covers the options too.
How fast does it go, and how long does it run?
Top speed is 6+ mph, depending on battery, load, wind and current. Run time is up to 14 hours with a 12V 165Ah battery.
How heavy is it, and how do I transport it?
The bare hull is 88 lb (112 lb fitted, 122 lb rigged with seat and battery box). It's 132 inches long. Most owners use a kayak cart, a truck bed or a trailer.
What about weeds?
Because the drive sits flush inside the hull, there's no prop to wrap. In heavy weeds, reverse helps clear the intake.
Is my deposit safe? Can I get a refund?
Your $999 deposit is fully refundable before final assembly, with no fees.
How does shipping work?
We ship by freight to a terminal near you, about $350 to $650 for most states. Pickup at our Sacramento factory is free.
