FluxJet Quick Start Guide: From Unboxing to First Launch
Share
Your FluxJet has arrived. This guide walks you through the exact steps to get it out of the bag and ready for the water. We’ve broken this down into three parts: Unboxing, Power, and Launch.
Part 1: Unboxing & Shipping Braces
- Shipping Braces: Locate the tool kit in your "bag of goodies." Use the appropriate bit to remove the 4 screws retaining the two cross-beams. We added these so shippers can't crush the boat if they stack another kayak on top of it.
- Track Screws: Swap the long shipping bolts out for the short track screws found in the small baggie.
- Seat Clamps: Snap the upper and lower halves together. Temperature matters: If it's cold, the plastic is hard and brittle. Warm the clips with a hairdryer so they flex. Use an up-and-back twisting motion to ensure the latch is fully clipped over the end.
- Straps: Feed the straps up through the back and down through the front of the cinches to ensure they "bite" when you lean back.
Part 2: Battery & Meter Programming
- Battery Setup: Slide your battery in. Position the Red (Positive) cable on the right-hand side (passenger side) closest to the breakers.
- Torque: Tighten the terminals with a screwdriver - at least "three Ugga Duggas" :) Ensure you have lock washers installed to prevent screws from loosening during heat cycling.
- Programming the Meter: Hold the button to enter programming mode. Select "F" for Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4). Divide your battery's nominal voltage by 3.2 to find your cell count (e.g., 38.4V = 12S). Short press until you hit your number, then long press to save and exit.
Part 3: Steering & Launch Prep
- Steering Lines: Avoid turning the steering platter by hand in the back. This creates slack that makes the lines jump the track. Always move the steering via the pedals to keep the tension even.
- 360 Light: We relocated the power port lower inside the boat to prevent water from pooling in the connector. Key the plug properly before tightening the locking nut.
- Paddle Tacos: Use the Phillips screws to mount these. If you want to store your paddle full-length along the side, use a spacer and longer screws to lift the taco so the paddle clears the seat frame.
⚠️ DO NOT RUN DRY
The FluxDrive is a water-lubricated system. Avoid running the motor in the air. Dry running can jam the pump with debris or cause damage. If you are testing at home, stick a garden hose in the back of the pump to keep it lubricated and keep the throttle very gentle.
