FluxJet Quick Start: The Complete On-Water Launch Guide

Getting your FluxJet to the water should be a seamless process. To help you get out there successfully your first time out, we’ve put together this quick-start guide covering everything from cart assembly to battery placement.

Whether you rooftop your kayak or haul it in a truck bed, these steps ensure your gear is protected and your power system is primed for performance.

1. Assembling the FluxJet Kayak Cart

The optional FluxJet Kayak Cart is designed specifically for the hull's dimensions. For the most stable transport, you need to set your brace spacing correctly:

  • The 200 Mark: Line up the center of each brace at the 200mm mark on the crossbeam. This ensures the rails sit perfectly within the hull's grooves.
  • Locking the Wheels: Slide the axle pins in and ensure the ring flips completely over the tube to prevent wheel loss over rough terrain.

Setting the braces to the 200mm mark (400mm/16" apart) ensures a perfect fit for the FluxJet hull.

2. Positioning for Transport

When loading the kayak onto the cart, weight distribution is everything. This is a high-performance electric kayak, and the majority of the weight is concentrated in the battery compartment.

Pro Tip: Position the cart wheels as close to "under the battery" as possible. This creates a pivot point that makes the kayak feel much lighter and prevents the nose from diving while you're heading down the launch ramp.

3. Battery Installation and Safety

The FluxJet is compatible with power systems ranging from 12V to 60V. In our typical setup, we utilize a 36V LiTime lithium battery. Correct orientation is vital for both cable management and safety:

  • Breaker Orientation: Always load the battery in with the breaker facing the front of the kayak. This places the emergency red breaker switch within easy reach.
  • Cable Clearance: Ensure your power cables are clear of the battery box before securing the lid with the bungee and buckle system.

4. Powering Up the Jet Drive

Connecting the main power cable is the final step before launch. Our connectors are designed for a secure, water-resistant seal. Look at the top of the power cable connector—you will see arrows and a lock icon. Make sure these are facing UP before pushing the connector onto the terminal.

A Note on Maintenance

Always perform a quick "pre-flight" check of your jet pump intake before sliding off the cart. Ensure no dry debris or sand is packed into the intake. Once you hit the water, the system is self-flushing, but starting clear is the best way to protect your drive.
