Inside the FluxJet: Sacramento Built, Patent Backed, and What Is Next
Share
Our electric jet fishing kayak was designed and built right here in Sacramento, California. Our team, led by CEO Jason Woods with his twenty years of deep sea robotics experience, set out to build something the industry had never seen. We are a small American manufacturer focused on doing one thing extremely well.
We walked into ICAST 2025 knowing the sportfishing industry is tough to impress. We walked out with Best of Show and Best Boat. It was the ultimate validation that our engineering works and the category had officially arrived.

The Tech, The Competitors, and The Truth
Our patented jet drive features an internal impeller housed inside a sealed unit. That means absolutely zero exposed propellers. Combine that with our extreme shallow water capability and a four inch draft, and you can glide over vegetation without getting tangled and grinding to a halt. The variable power system and suplied battery box takes standard marine batteries from 12V up to 60V (Group 31), getting you to a top speed of 6+ mph. The fully rigged setup comes in at 122 lbs. You also get built in foot steering and pre-installed navigation lights right out of the box.
We respect the other brands in the space. Old Town makes incredible traditional pedal and motor kayaks, but they are heavy and rely on external props. PacMotor offers a great dual motor add on, but it is still an external system that can catch weeds. VoyaX is pushing some interesting new angles as well, but their pedal system still sticks out way below the hull. We win when you want a lightweight, fully integrated, throw and go experience without the hassle of exposed props or fins.
We also promise to shoot straight with you. Jeff over at Outdoor Gear Nerds reviewed our kayak and gave the standing stability a 7.5 out of 10. Whilst Jeff did say that it good for an 11ft long 35" wide kayak, we will make sure that any larger models in future seasons are even better.
A Quick Note on Reverse: The mechanical instant reverse function is designed specifically for backing out of tight spots and pulsing water backward to clear weeds off the intake screen. Boats do not have brakes, so reverse is not for primary navigation or sudden stopping.

Independent Reviews and Press
Do not just take our word for it. Our platform has been independently reviewed and covered by major sportfishing publications. You can check out the coverage on Wired2Fish, Game & Fish, AllOutdoor, and Kayak Angler Magazine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the FluxJet currently shipping?
Yes. We are currently fulfilling 2026 pre orders. November 2026 is the next available delivery slot.
Are there any exposed propellers?
No. Our custom built electric jet drive uses an internal impeller inside a sealed housing to completely prevent weed tangles.
What is the draft and top speed?
The draft is approximately 4 inches for extreme shallow water access. The top speed is 6+ mph depending on your chosen 12V to 60V battery setup.
Is reverse used for braking?
No. The mechanical instant reverse is meant for backing out of tight spots and clearing debris off the intake screen. It should not be used for sudden stops.
