Building It Right: The Logic Behind Our Pre-Order and Production Process
Share
At FluxJet, we are focused on one thing: building the most advanced electric kayak on the water. To ensure every unit meets our standards, we are scaling our production deliberately rather than rushing mass volume.
We often get asked: "Why aren't you mass producing these yet?" or "Why can't I just walk into a store and buy one?"
Here is the honest answer.
Availability & Dealer Stock
Right now, demand significantly exceeds supply. Most of the kayaks coming off our line are already spoken for by customers in our pre-order queue.
However, our authorized dealers also have allocations.
While we do not have excess inventory sitting in warehouses, some of our dealers may have incoming factory units that are not yet claimed, or they may have their own pre-order lists that are moving quickly. We strongly recommend checking with your local dealer to see what their specific availability looks like.
Precision Over Speed
Building a FluxJet is not the same as molding a standard plastic hull. This is a complex machine that requires rigorous testing to ensure reliability on the water.
We treat every single unit like it is the only one we are building. Every drive system is individually validated, every seal is checked, and every component is tested before it leaves Sacramento.
If we tried to "mass produce" these on Day 1, we would sacrifice the quality control that you deserve. We are simply unwilling to take that risk.
The Pricing Breakdown
Transparency is key. Before you join the queue, we want you to know exactly what the total investment looks like.
*Plus applicable sales tax. Shipping is calculated separately (Expected cost: $250–$350 within the contiguous US).
How the Pre-Order Process Works
We utilize a deposit-based system to manage our production queue. This prevents overproduction and ensures we are building the right configurations for real anglers.
The 4-Step Flow:
- Step 1: Reservation ($499): You pay the deposit to secure your spot in line.
- Step 2: The Queue: Orders are processed on a First-In, First-Out basis. We build them in the order they were received.
- Step 3: Build Activation & Accessories: When your hull is next in line, we will contact you. At this stage, we will finalize your color choice and let you know which accessories are available for your build. We will then collect the remaining balance plus shipping/tax.
- Step 4: Fulfillment: Your kayak enters final assembly and is either shipped to your door or made available for pickup.
Important: We will contact you to verify your balance, color, configuration, and shipping address. You do not need to notify us of changes before we contact you.
Scaling Responsibly: The US-First Strategy
We are currently limiting orders to the United States. This is to ensure we can fully support every unit we sell.
We are focused on building a robust Dealer Network across the US so that parts and expertise are always within reach.
For our International Community: We see you. We are actively vetting distribution partners who match our standards. We will not ship to a region until we are confident we can support the owners there. Please join our International Waitlist to help us prioritize your region.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the $499 deposit refundable?
Yes. Your deposit is refundable up until the point of final configuration (Step 3). However, please note that refunds are subject to transaction fees charged by the payment processor which are non-recoverable. Please review our Refund Policy for the exact details.
Why isn't the battery included?
We do not sell or ship batteries.
We are kayak builders. Shipping high-capacity lithium batteries requires hazmat certification and expensive freight handling that adds unnecessary cost to your order. Instead of marking up a third-party battery and charging you extra shipping, we recommend you purchase a 12V/24V lithium battery directly from a reputable battery supplier.
This gives you the freedom to choose the brand and capacity that fits your budget, or use a system you already own.
Why can't I use a freight forwarder for international orders?
Using a freight forwarder bypasses our service network. If your kayak ends up in a country where we have no parts distribution, we cannot support you if something breaks. For this reason, exporting is forbidden.
⚠️ Consumer Alert
Please remain vigilant against fraudulent websites. Scammers attempt to exploit high-demand products by offering unrealistic discounts.
FluxJet does not offer "flash sales" or deep discounts. If a deal looks too good to be true, it is likely a scam. Consult our Official Safety Guide to verify authorized channels.
Thank you for your support as we get these kayaks out on the water.
